Emily Slapin is a Rhode Island based artist whose work focuses on the figure and portrait. She received her MFA in Drawing from the New York Academy of Art and BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been featured in juried exhibitions in Rhode Island, Virginia, California, and New York. She currently lives and works in Newport where she accepts commissions and teaches at the Newport Art Museum and the Rhode Island School of Design's Continuing Education dept.
